Let me start by saying this is in NO WAY a review of Pro Tone Pedals’ Deadhorse Overdrive. The Deadhorse is suped up Tube Screamer (if your familiar with what that can do to your sound). I use this pedal all time for tracking guitars and live situations. I just wanted to share it’s sound with you all. The track is a collaboration between Addison Kurt and myself, it’s a fun prog/tech metal filled with odd time nonsense. I hope you enjoy.
As for the recording itself, their was zero mastering done. No post effects and it’s really not even mixed. I just wanted to share with your the raw guitars. There is the slightest amount of EQ to remove an unwanted frequency. That being said, the ONLY difference you’ll hear is that the Deadhorse Overdrive was bypassed. The track’s volume and preset remained the same. As you can hear, this pedal does wonders for even the best of amps. Two instances where the Deadhorse is bypassed occur at 15secs and 38 secs (there is text over the video as well to let you know when to pay attention.)
As for the Line6, I’m using the Engl Fireball amp model. Only added the Deadhorse and some noise gates. Recorded via USB. I’m running the Deadhorse through the FX Loop.
