The amazing folks at Evertune wanted to hook me up with one of their new bridge systems. I was extremely excited about this but after checking out my guitar that I wanted to install it on it failed to meet the necessary requirements. At this point I wasn’t about to cut into my customshop Schecter so being the down to earth company they are, Evertune hooked me up with one of the VGS guitars. It’s a black Les Paul copy, obviously the Evertune bridge system is installed. Well…the guitar arrived yesterday, I took it out of the box and it was perfectly in tune! They had already set up the guitar in a Dropped D tuning. The guitar plays great! It’s really comfortable and the neck is faster than expected. The VGS ridgeback pickups sound pretty good, although they lack a little clarity on the treble strings (when playing full chords with high gain distortion). I’ll most likely end up swapping them out but I’ll keep you guys posted on when I do that.
This guitar will be featured in all of my Tool lessons moving forward…and yes they are coming sooner than you think. I appreciate all of your requests and patience. NAMM is this weekend so expect my first lesson featuring this sweet guitar next week!
I’ve also created a “Transcriptions” page here on the Axe site. All the lesson transcriptions will be located on this page, which included all Original lessons as well as the Tool lessons. The Tool video will probably out pace the Tool transcriptions (they take awhile and unfortunately I don’t have that much time) so please bare with me if you need those transcriptions!
