What’s going on everybody?!
Gregory here, I wanted to speak with you for a moment about some of the updates and changes I’m going to be making to my YouTube channel. Over the last year or so my content has become sparse and infrequent. Family life has taken up most of my spare time. And that’s a good thing! I sit here inspired and motivated to create more content than ever. This will require something I’ve never done on my channel; an upload schedule!
Original Lesson Content
At minimum, I will be uploading original lesson content bi-weekly. These lessons will focus on a range of musical topics worked into short examples and riffs. As always, transcriptions (TABs) and any extra content will be available for everyone. These lessons will be released on Wednesdays.
Also, all of my lessons will be written up in this Blog. As though they were written up for a magazine (he says to the universe). Just a written up summary of the lessons with pictures of the examples throughout. All of my blog posts will be shared on the Axe Facebook page, so be sure to give that a like!
interAXEtion
My recent creation of a musical theory FAQ will continue as a bi-weekly upload. I’d like this to expand content out to general questions about music, lessons, gear, and life in general. These videos will be available Mondays.
Tool
Now I know a lot of subscribers and visitors to my channel are here because of my Tool lessons. I never thought I would receive that much recognition and connect with so many people because of these lessons. I definitely find the process arduous. Transcribing the music takes a lot of time and I’m honestly not that motivated to do so. But I know ya’ll love it so I will keep it going, mostly likely one Tool song a month (or two, depending on time). Which leads me to my next topic…
Tool Tuesdays
Every other Tuesday I will begin a new series. I will pick one riff or section of a Tool track and dissect it. Break down what I like about it and try to show you how it can make you a better player. TABs will be available as well on Instagram using the hashtag #ToolTuesday and be sure to tag me @AxeOfCreation to share your performance or thoughts. Hopefully this can satiate your fever for moar Tool.
Gear Demos
Occasionally I’ll dabble in the realm gear demonstrations. There are plenty of excellent sources on YouTube for such demonstrations but things come my way and people are interested. Plus, I have fun doing them. I’m hoping to do at least one of these a month. Check out Fastback Pickups or Kiesel Guitars for my most recent gear demos (FIX LINKS)
Future Content
That about sums it up. I’m truly looking forward this change, it’s needed. I hope you guys and gals dig the new format. If you’d like to see anything on my channel that I don’t cover please stalk me on the social media of your choosing and let me know.
As for future content, my primary idea is some sort of improvisation vlog. A weekly journey into something that is deficient in my playing as well as something that is new to my own guitar journey. These would be weekly uploads and in some way a vlog; insight into what I’m working on that week, no editing, and full of mistakes!
Well, if you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the upcoming schedule! As always, let me know what you come with and I’ll see you next time!
